Introduction

A home with a family, a white picket fence in a suburban area filled with friendly neighbors who work each and every day is what everyone dreams of having. For the vast majority of teachers across the nation this is purely just a figment of imagination at least living in present-day America. As time progressed along came the advancement of technology that is supposed to be used to lead towards progression. But it seems as though time has come at a standstill for teachers as there has been a decline in their income which is preventing them from paying back their loans. In most cases, their loans follow them until they take their last breath and only until then is their loan paid off. But, by the time their death occurs they would have already lived all their life working day in and out only paying bills and student loans that they truly never had the time to enjoy their life to the fullest.

Imagine for a moment that you are a student who has attended school for approximately 4+ years, that you waited for that moment to walk off that stage with the degree in your hand after working endlessly night and day for the past few years. Walking out the doors into the world where all your knowledge and skills that you have acquired for years is finally going to be of some use as you bestow upon the upcoming generation. Reality finally hits you when you see the annual income of teachers and you realize that being $40,000+ in debt seems as though you have been slapped on the wrist for pursuing in this career field. Now you have to sit down and figure out how to pay back these student loans, be able to provide learning resources for students as well as leaving just enough for your own family. No matter where you go or where you may end up loans will always follow you. They will cling onto you and squeeze every cent they can from your bank account. Student loans can sometimes either be a gateway to a better future or it may seem as though you are signing yourself up to fail. Nonetheless, teachers are still and will continue to be at school bright and early in the morning despite the salary, and any other incentives that they may be deprived of because they are willing to put their dreams aside because they know that we will always need teachers to help guide students on how to navigate this world. Unfortunately, there is just so much a teacher can do for his/her students.

There comes a point where teachers too hit rock bottom where they have no choice but to use social media, GoFundMe pages as well as other alternatives to help their students in classrooms. Some teachers have become so helpless that they are holding signs on the side of the road to help fund their classrooms when all of this should originally have been coming from their state’s capitol and even the government! As time progresses the more teachers we will see on the streets. Within the past month we have seen teachers overtaking the streets but this time not holding up signs asking for assistance rather now they are demanding that there be an increase in funding for their schools, classroom as well as in their paychecks. You will truly only understand what teachers are going through if you sit down with them as you allow them to express their journey of where they started from to where they are now. Most will say that the burden, the amount they are putting in is not even close to being equivalent to their paychecks but they still choose to stay for kids.

As you examine each tab imagine that you are a teacher who is in this very same position. Also, carefully examine each and every artifact and fully intake what teachers today are having to go through. Now more than ever, it is crucial that every one of us are fully aware of what teachers are going through because we rely on them to prepare the future leaders of tomorrow.

As you read them as a whole you will understand where America stands when it comes to education and how teachers are put on the back burner every time. The importance of having teachers will never be recognized merely because those in government and in the capitol themselves do not know how valuable teachers are in society. They do not realize that if it was not for teachers none of them would be in their offices today!
